Default Potential issue with the updater

I haven't played Guild Wars in forever and was planning on getting back into it, however, I have some concerns about the automatic updater. I now attend a major university that requires me to connect through their network, unfortunately the network goes berserk if it detects any kind of P2P technology. To give you an idea, I tried playing the free version of Dungeons and Dragons online and in the middle of updating my internet cuts out and I'm told that I have violated the schools network policy regarding the use of P2P programs and have lost internet for an hour. I was informed the next violation would be a week. I don't want to lose my internet for a week, I need it for class so I ask you, is it possible that the Guild Wars updater will cause the same issue?

=== Content delivery and network architecture ===

To support their fee-free approach to online gaming the server architecture developed for the game was core to minimizing the bandwidth costs associated with maintaining game servers. Infrastructure design was influenced by the developers' experiences with Battle.net development.

The game client is available for download as a very small file. Each time there is an update to the game the existing client automatically downloads a new version of the client which examines a manifest of files to determine which files have been modified and therefore need to be downloaded to the client machine. This manifest is prioritized, the most important files are downloaded prior to the player being able to start the game, the rest are downloaded in the background while the player is playing. ArenaNet uses this rapid update technology to make changes on demand and close exploits in the system.

ArenaNet also utilizes their update technology to preload content from new ''Guild Wars'' campaigns onto existing players' accounts prior to the release of that campaign. The content is only activated after the right key is added to the player's account and the game servers allow the campaign changes to go live.
I'm not too sure, but that's what Wikipedia has to say about it. Does that sound like P2P? Maybe just check with your university.

GuildWars does act in some ways as a P2P program,I also heard from multiple people that GW causes problems when it comes to schools and P2P programs,You should still however go to your admins and give them information on GW, chances are they will put GW in exceptions.

Do not try it without asking though, the risk is not worth it, you need internet for more imoirtant stuff then games in school anyways. And things can only get better by asking, so why not give it a try.

i would ask b/c 1) we dont know your school or its rules. 2) its always better to make an informed decision w/ the ppl in charge... if they originally say no you can always so something from one of my really really old games..
